Open Night 2023

Last night, we had an amazing night at our first open night since the pandemic. The school was bursting at the seams with eager primary six and seven pupils, and their families, keen to hear about what our school has to offer!

NI Water Service Donation

We are extremely pleased that NI Water Service have kindly donated a Water Butt to our Geography department. This piece of specialist equipment will be used by Mrs Mullan, Miss Mitchell and our Green Team as they work hard to look after our school environment.

Active Learning in Science

Year 11 DA science pupils are pictured in their biology lesson on Friday – making models out of sweets following their recent study of DNA structure. All pupils were successful in correctly matching the DNA bases using different coloured sweets before arranging them into a double helix shape. How impressive? 10/10!

A Delicious Gift

Today, this amazing cake was presented to staff for our efforts over the past year. We were a bit taken aback, to be honest, by such an unexpected gesture. Thank you very much to the Gilchrist family for their generosity. The cake is almost too good to eat……..almost.

Sibling Rivalry

Not often a brother gets one over on his big sister; however, bragging rights in the McHugh house go to Tom who was on the winning side in today’s game against Foyle College. Hopefully Tom will achieve the double tomorrow as he faces off against his twin sister who also plays for Foyle. We are rooting for you, Tom. #TEAMLISNEAL

Jogging 50 Miles in March

We were delighted to welcome Children in Crossfire into our school recently to receive a substantial amount of money raised by our pupils, parents and staff; who successfully JOGGED 50 MILES IN MARCH. Well done to everyone who participated in the challenged and a special mention must go to Miss O’Kane for her wonderful work in promoting the challenge and encouraging whole school participation. #WeAreLisneal #LikeNoOther

Consultation on Draft Framework for Specialist Provision at Lisneal College

Dear Parent/Guardian

Lisneal College has an approved two class specialist provision for learning operating over Key Stages 3 and 4 and an established temporary Autism provision class for Key Stage 3. The Education Authority wish to expand on this provision with the establishment of two Autism classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This will ensure that children with requiring specific learning support and support for Autism can be provided for seamlessly throughout their time in Lisneal College. If the proposal is approved we are confident that our school will be resources to support the growing number of children choosing to attend our school who require additional support.

Therefore, I am asking parents to complete the short consultation response that will allow us to progress with the expansion of our provision. I have also attached a link to the Draft Framework that outlines why Lisneal College has been selected for Autism Specific provision expansion and how we meet the criteria for selection. I would be grateful if you could spare one minute of your time to support our children and our school.
