StemGirls

Today was an incredible day for Sophie as she was invited to the Terex Ecotech Brand conference to see her female workwear design become a reality. It was fantastic to see female Terex employees wearing Sophie’s design and listen to how much they love it. Sophie met the CEO who travelled from the US to attend the conference and congratulate her. Sophie will be presented with her own Terex uniform next week before it rolls out across the Terex plants. Amazingly, Sophie’s designs may also be rolled out globally. The people at Terex just love Sophie and she was even offered a job! What a day, what a girl. #stemgirls Terex Corporation

Sophie shines @ Terex

Year 10 student, Sophie, took part in the final of the Terex female workwear design competition. Sophie, along with other students from local schools, had a guided tour of the manufacturing plant at Campise and had the opportunity to see the manufacture stages of the conveying systems. Sophie was then required to present her designs to a judging panel of five engineers. Sophie was excellent and is thrilled to have had this opportunity to present. Mrs McCrudden is extremely proud of Sophie, who has put a lot of hard work and effort into this competition. We now patiently wait on the results, fingers crossed for Sophie!

Christian Unity Week

Mr Allen and head pupils, Kyle and Katie, attended the Christian Unity Week service in St. Eugene’s Cathedral. It was lovely to join with our Shared Education partners, St Mary’s College and St. Cecilia’s College and local primary schools. Lisnagelvin PS and Fountain PS joined their shared education partners too. Well done to everyone who contributed to the service; we are really blessed to have such camaraderie across our schools.

Open Night 2023

Last night, we had an amazing night at our first open night since the pandemic. The school was bursting at the seams with eager primary six and seven pupils, and their families, keen to hear about what our school has to offer!

NI Water Service Donation

We are extremely pleased that NI Water Service have kindly donated a Water Butt to our Geography department. This piece of specialist equipment will be used by Mrs Mullan, Miss Mitchell and our Green Team as they work hard to look after our school environment.

Active Learning in Science

Year 11 DA science pupils are pictured in their biology lesson on Friday – making models out of sweets following their recent study of DNA structure. All pupils were successful in correctly matching the DNA bases using different coloured sweets before arranging them into a double helix shape. How impressive? 10/10!

A Delicious Gift

Today, this amazing cake was presented to staff for our efforts over the past year. We were a bit taken aback, to be honest, by such an unexpected gesture. Thank you very much to the Gilchrist family for their generosity. The cake is almost too good to eat……..almost.

Sibling Rivalry

Not often a brother gets one over on his big sister; however, bragging rights in the McHugh house go to Tom who was on the winning side in today’s game against Foyle College. Hopefully Tom will achieve the double tomorrow as he faces off against his twin sister who also plays for Foyle. We are rooting for you, Tom. #TEAMLISNEAL
