World Religion Day at Lisneal College!

We celebrated on Friday 17th January ahead of World Religion Day on Sunday 19th January. To mark the occasion, the HE and RE departments at Lisneal worked together to organise a World Day of Faith for our Year 9 pupils. 🌟
Our aim was to promote dialogue, respect and tolerance among different religious groups. We celebrated religions from around the world, while showcasing how richly diverse our own school community is. We had local representatives from different religions joining us to share their faith traditions with our students. We even had our Chinese visitors sharing their experience of the Chinese New Year.
Thank you to the North West Islamic Association, the North West Migrants Forum, Manpreet from the Sikh community, team members from Exodus and Cllr Lilian Seenoi Barr, the Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District.

A-Level Poetry visit Seamus Heaney HomePlace

“We go to poetry, we go to literature in general, to be forwarded within ourselves.”- Seamus Heaney
Our A level Literature students travelled to the Seamus Heaney HomePlace this week in Bellaghy to take part in a lecture series where they got to experience a tour of the centre, as well as a lecture from a university lecturer followed by a seminar with a PHD student where they further got to explore their own ideas regarding the poets they are studying. A very worthwhile experience enjoyed by all!

Snow White and the Seven…

Over the past two nights, our pupils put on the most magnificent show seen in Lisneal College. ‘Snow White and the Seven’ was an absolute smash hit, full of music, songs, wonderful acting and, of course, belly laughs.
In case anyone missed the show, the seven were;
1. Mickey – the local principal of a secondary school in the Waterside
2. Mickey’s Da – works in the canteen of a local secondary school
3. Bugsy – Top football coach with Maiden City Soccer
4. Craigy – Local shop owner
5. McCready – Local politician
6. Mr C – Owner of local chip shop
7. Claudy – From the country….SIR…
Our pupils were just amazing and we are soooo proud of each and every one of them. A huge thank you goes to Ms. Lake, Mrs. Leonard, the Music Department, Unit 7 Audio, Mr. Martin and Mr. Hanna for all of their hard work and efforts.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our pupils on stage.
Our choir and band were incredible and the live music just made the show. You can tell we are excited and proud as punch. Enjoy the photos! #LikeNoOther #TeamLisneal
