The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)

Congratulations to all of our year 10 pupils, who successfully completed their 2-day DofE Bronze qualifying expedition in Gortin Glen Forest Park, this past weekend.

The Expedition phase promotes personal growth, resilience, and teamwork, offering valuable experiences that foster leadership and self-confidence.

The weather was warm and sunny and the pupils thoroughly embraced their outdoor learning experience.

A huge thanks to the staff members who helped facilitate the expedition and to Mr Gordon Aiken and Mr Charles McFarland who assessed the pupils’ navigation, teamwork and camp-craft skills.

I think everyone is looking forward to some respite from the midges and a comfy bed!

Well done to all involved.

The pupils can now look forward to continuing their DofE journey back at Lisneal College.

Uniform Appeal!

Many people have items of school uniform that they have grown out of, no longer need and are taking up room in their houses.  Instead of throwing the uniforms out, we are appealing for you to donate them to our school uniform bank, ready to be re-used by our thankful students!

The donation station will be outside the school office, where your child can drop off their donations until the end of June. 🌎

Drop-in sessions for parents/carers to access the uniform bank will be confirmed in June.

Thank you so much to everyone who helps with the programme, it has been a huge success over the past few years and many students have made use of your kind donations! 😊

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)

Congratulations to all of our Year 11 students, who successfully completed their 3-day DofE Silver practice expedition in the Sperrins over the weekend.
The expedition aim was to document man’s effect on the environment, and our students thoroughly embraced their learning experience.
A huge thanks to the staff members who helped facilitate the expedition. The students now look forward to continuing their DofE journey at Lisneal College.

U12 Northern Ireland Cup Final 🏆

Lisneal College vs St. Columb’s College

Wednesday 9th April

Despite it not being our day, we are so proud of our U12 team! ⚽️💙
Lisneal College were defeated in the U12 N.I. Schools Cup. The match result ended up 3-0 to St. Columb’s College.
Firstly, a massive well done to St. Columb’s College for securing 3 in a row. A fantastic team, and a team we look forward to competing against in years to come! ⚽
To our boys. Your resilience and hard work throughout this cup run has been nothing but special. Beating a number of giant footballing schools across Northern Ireland is an amazing achievement. Despite playing well, it just didn’t go our way. Keep the heads up and we push on. Keep working hard with your local clubs and we are confident we will reach another N.I. Cup Final in years to come.
To all the pupils, staff and families attending the final, and to everyone who watched the match online. Thank you for your support all year. The atmosphere was fantastic, supporting the boys right up to the final whistle. Many thanks to Maiden City Soccer for providing a stream to the match.
To Coleraine Football Club. Many thanks for hosting this prestigious event today. Facilities were fantastic and staff really welcoming. Thank you!
Finally to all local clubs. Many thanks for everything you do with player development. Today was a special moment seeing both schools from the city in a cup final. We can all agree that football in the North West is on the way up.
Our boys will bounce back and we hope to see everyone again at the next N.I. Cup Final when we reach it!

World Poetry Day

On World Poetry Day, Friday 21st March, Mrs. Miller was delighted to accompany three of our fabulous pupils to the awards ceremony for the Foyle Schools Poetry competition which was held this morning. These three superstars are now published poets and have their poems published in this year’s edition of Rhyme & Reason. 🖋
A special mention needs to go to English Literature student, Matthew who won first prize in the KS4 category, an amazing achievement and very well deserved. Well done to Hannah and Josephine who were awarded second and third prizes in their Key Stages. 👏
The English Department continues to thrive with such superb creativity and imagination amongst our

pupils.

Battle of the Bands!

Last Friday, our talented Year 10 pupils took to the stage for an electrifying Battle of the Bands! After weeks of dedicated practice, they delivered fantastic performances of classics like Don’t Stop Believin’, Achy Breaky Heart, and Stand By Me.
Every pupil played a vital role. Whether singing, playing keyboard, drums, or bass to name but a few instruments – and their hard work truly paid off.
Thank you to Mrs. Flanagan, Miss Goodman, and Mr. Coyle for their support in making this event such a success.
Congratulations to our winning group who performed Chasing Cars with vocalists Maisie and Lexi and to our runner up group, 10O who performed Achy Breaky Heart.🏆
Well done, Year 10! 👏🎸

Exodus Team 2025

Introducing Lisneal’s 2025 Exodus Team!

In August, eleven of our Year 11 and 12 pupils are heading off on an adventure to Hungary. 🇭🇺

Led by Jack McHendry (Exodus) and Miss Smallwoods, these pupils are committed to meeting weekly as part of their ‘Explore’ team. For 16 weeks, they will be planning and preparing for their summer placement alongside exploring the Christian faith.
When in Hungary, the team will partner with a local church and help to lead kids clubs, play sports and teach English to the young people there. This is a fantastic opportunity and we are excited to follow the journey these young people are embarking on.
