Student-led Workshops

On Wednesday 19th February, our Student Council led an impactful workshop for Year 10 on handling verbal abuse in school. The session focused on our 7 core values here at Lisneal College and how poor language and verbal abuse toward staff and peers can affect our whole school environment.
We are so proud of our dedicated young leaders for driving this important conversation! Their voices matter, and we will continue to use student opinions and pupil voice to shape our policies and ensure a respectful, positive environment for everyone.
Exciting times ahead as we roll this out across all year groups in the coming months.

N.I. U12 Semi-Final

On Thursday 12th February, the U12 boys booked their place in their first ever Northern Ireland Cup Final with a 2-1 victory over Lecale Trinity Grammar, Downpatrick.
From the very beginning, Lisneal understood that this was going to be a tough task and would need resilience and hard work to see the game through.
The first half was end to end, with both teams cancelling out each others chances.
Half time 0-0. Lisneal started the second half strongly with a quick goal by Jamie H from a superb run and cross by our MOTM, Lucas C. 1-0. Lecale quickly bounced back placing it level with 15 minutes to go. 1-1.
With around 6 minutes to go, Jamie received another superb ball from Lucas to shoot from outside the box putting Lisneal 2-1 up. The boys defended well in the final minutes to see the game off and book their spot in the N.I. Cup Final. 🏆🏃⚽
Many thanks to our coaches and all the parents who came to show their support.
Everyone at #TeamLisneal are delighted for our boys and are looking forward to a day out at the final!

Maths Fest 2025

On Friday, 7th February, our KS3 pupils had a fantastic time at Maths Fest in the Guildhall!
This event, organised by Kumon and Ulster University, brought together schools from across the city to celebrate mathematics.
Through interactive challenges and problem-solving activities, our pupils developed mathematical thinking, built confidence, and saw that maths can be fun!
They also had the opportunity to connect with students from other schools, exchanging ideas and collaborating to tackle tricky problems. 🌟
Thank you to Kumon and Ulster University for creating an inspiring and engaging experience. Events like this show that maths isn’t just about numbers but about teamwork, creativity, and discovering new ways to solve real-world problems!

Student Council Action Planning

Last week, several members of our Student Council presented their Action Plan to Mr. Allen, Mrs. Mullan and Mr. Johnston. Over the past few weeks, they’ve worked tirelessly, gathering feedback from peers and narrowing down the key issues that matter most to our school community.
The Council identified topics such as the school house system, uniform, pupil voice, transport and communication and proposed thoughtful actions and potential solutions to address these challenges. They then engaged in conversations with SLT, working collaboratively to find agreements moving forward.
A huge well done to the Council for using their pupil voice to demonstrate our core values of integrity, responsibility and teamwork. 🌟

Bring Your Grown Up!

Over the past 4 weeks, Lisneal College has been hosting a series of “Bring Your Grown-Up” sessions in partnership with the Department for Economy, Ulster University, Abacus and Helix and IZAK9. These sessions were filled with engaging and fun activities designed to boost parents’ confidence and skills in maths. It was wonderful to see so many parents getting involved and supporting their child’s learning journey. 🧩

Our aim was to build confidence, tackle challenges, and show that maths can be fun at any age! Learning together can support our pupils and parents. As we always say here at Lisneal College, Together Everyone Achieves More!
