PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOPS AND FREE SHOWS

Free Performing Arts Workshops

If your child is interested in drama, music, history or dance then the New Gate Arts is offering him/her the chance to develop their skills. Over the summer pupils will have the opportunity to attend free drama performances and workshops, and attend the matinee performance of the Walled City Tattoo. If you wish to find out more, see the details below.

The Honest Sod is a comedy ‘theatre in education’ performance which tells the story of Annie and Liam and their struggle to make sense of what each other is saying.  The Honest Sod takes place as part of the New Gate Fringe Festival and will run twice daily, at 11am and 2pm, from Monday 29th July until Thursday 1st August.  This short play and workshop lasts approximately one hour, is suitable for Key Stage 2 and 3 audiences, and is free to attend. For more information about the Honest Sod or the New Gate Fringe Festival contact Pauline – pauline@newgatearts.com, or Kyle – kyle@newgatearts.com

The theme of this year’s Walled City Tattoo is ‘Walls 400’ and it promises to be a fantastic show, building upon the success of previous years.  There is a maximum of 600 complimentary tickets for the matinee performance at 3pm on Saturday 3rd August, and first preference for these free tickets will be given to young people who are taking part in the ARCH project.  Young people should be accompanied by a parent / guardian, and anyone wishing to register for complimentary tickets, should email pauline@newgatearts.com with their name, contact details and the number of tickets they require.
