Ms Garvin’s Retirement

Friday 30th June was a VERY SPECIAL DAY for our very own Ms Geraldine Garvin who is retiring from the teaching profession after 40 years service.

Geraldine first started teaching in September 1977 in Faughan Valley High School where she remained until its amalgamation with Clondermott High School to form Lisneal College. Throughout her time at Lisneal College she has taught Physical Education and led this curriculum area very successfully in her role as Head of Department.

During her teaching career she has worked with a number of global charity organisations, in particular Children in Crossfire and on different occasions she visited Africa alongside this organisation; twice to Gambia, once to Malawi, once to Kenya and twice to Tanzania. Geraldine has also been a great supporter of the work of the NI Blood Transfusion Service, working alongside this organisation for the past 17 years.

The staff and management of Lisneal College were delighted to celebrate Geraldine’s retirement with a fantastic function at the Belfray Hotel, a great night was had by all. We would like to thank Geraldine for her 40 years’ service and for her dedication to the pupils of our school. We wish her a well-deserved and most happy retirement.
