Parents and Carers of Stage 3 SEN Children

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Education Authority are eager to capture the voice of our parents and carers and children and young people who have lived experience of our school approaches in adaptive teaching. They have developed a letter and a survey to gain an initial understanding of your views.

They want to explore what interest there is in holding small focus groups with parents and carers for more in-depth conversations. These focus groups would take place either online or at an EA venue depending on parental preference. They are also seeking parental consent via this form to talk to their children in small groups and with the assistance of their Youth Service.

Please see attached their letters and survey:

Threading Stories: Piece by Piece programme

This project will involve a series of workshops for Year 9 pupils focusing on topics such as identity, wellbeing, healthy relationships, diversity, leadership and peacebuilding. Each form class will attend 1 workshop from the series.

During the workshops, pupils will participate in:

  • Group discussions and creative activities
  • Textile and heritage-based learning activities
  • Opportunities to work with pupils from a partner school
  • Basic sewing activities using needles and scissors under supervision

Some pupils may also be selected as Story Weavers (Young Leaders) and will take part in additional leadership, teamwork and communication activities. This may include creating questions, written responses and short audio recordings to share with pupils from the partner school.

Photographs may be taken of pupils’ creative work and project displays for project reporting and promotional purposes. The focus will be on the work produced rather than on identifiable pupils. Any photographs taken by the school will continue to be managed in line with school policies and procedures.

If you DO NOT wish your child to take part in this programme, please click the Google Form link below and complete the exclusion request:
