Lisneal College Open Night January 2025

The BIGGEST Open Night of the year is coming soon. Primary 6 and 7 pupils are invited to join us for a night of fun and an insight into their future at Lisneal College. Mr Allen will address parents and pupils at 6:30pm and 7:30pm.

We look forward to meeting every single one of our future #TEAMLISNEAL members on Wednesday 8th January 2025.

Christmas Dinner at Lisneal!

On Wednesday 11th December, our pupils and staff enjoyed a special treat at lunchtime – a delicious Christmas dinner served with all the trimmings.
A huge thank you to our amazing canteen staff, who went above and beyond (as usual) to prepare and serve this festive feast. They made the day extra special for everyone!

Year 10 GCSE Subject Choices

The time has come for our Year 10 students to initially select their GCSE option choices. This is an initial trawl before our option blocks are selected in January.

All Year 10 students have been sent home with an option booklet, a letter for parents and the initial trawl list. Please read this carefully with your child and encourage them to ask lots of questions at home and at school regarding these subjects and potential careers options.

This should be returned to your child’s form teacher by Tuesday 17th December.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Awards Ceremony 2024

Lisneal College: The Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Awards Ceremony 🏅
We were delighted and honoured to welcome His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County Borough of Londonderry, Mr. lan Crowe (MBE), and Invictus Games champion and charity ambassador, Mr. Scotty Darroch, as our guests of honour at school, for our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award celebration on Wednesday 4th December.
The event commenced with a welcome from Mr. Warren Taylor, DofE Award Co-ordinator at the school. The students who completed their DofE Bronze, Silver and Gold awards were then invited to deliver a series of presentations based on their experience during the expeditions.
Mr. Crowe (MBE), Mr. Darroch and Principal Mr. Allen then presented over seventy students with their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award certificates and badges. Notably almost all our of the DofE Gold Award pupils, having also completed their Bronze and Silver award. 🥇
To conclude the event, Mr. Michael Allen and the guests of honour, each addressed those present, and congratulated the students on the successful completion of the world’s leading youth achievement award; whilst acknowledging the parental support they had been given, which helped ensure their child’s success.
Mr. Allen also thanked all the staff who volunteer to give so freely of their time, to take students out of school to complete their DofE expeditions and also help assess their voluntary, physical and skill activities. Thank you to Mr. Millar, Miss Mitchell and Miss Smallwoods.
Lisneal College offers students the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.
Well done everyone, we are so proud of you all! 🌟
