Rights Respecting School

Lisneal College is recognised by UNICEF as a Rights Respecting School after achieving the RRSA Bronze: Rights Committed Award.

This is an important milestone in our journey to embed children’s rights at the heart of everything we do.

We have shared our commitment to becoming a Rights Respecting School with pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community. Our Senior Leadership Team fully understands what is involved and is dedicated to the UNICEF UK Rights Respecting journey. The right foundations are now in place for the next stage where we will work towards the Silver: Rights Aware Award.

How do we live these values every day?

At Lisneal, children’s rights are not just words on paper. They are part of our culture.

We actively promote and embed these principles through:

  • Listening to and respecting pupil voice, ensuring that every student feels heard and valued.
  • Building strong, positive relationships between pupils and staff, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Championing equality, inclusion, and respect across our entire school community, so that every individual feels they belong.

Our next goal is to achieve the Silver: Rights Aware Award, which means deepening our commitment and ensuring that children’s rights are fully embedded in our curriculum, policies, and daily practice. Over the coming months, we will:

  • Continue to raise awareness of children’s rights across all year groups.
  • Provide opportunities for pupils to lead initiatives that promote respect and inclusion.
  • Strengthen links between rights education and classroom learning, making rights a visible part of every subject.

We are excited to continue this journey, deepening our commitment to children’s rights and creating a school where respect, dignity, and fairness are at the core of our ethos.
