PROGRESS & ACHIEVEMENT

Our GCSE & Sixth Form pupils are working tirelessly to complete Controlled Assessments and Portfolios of task work across all subjects whilst preparing for examinations. A tough time of the year. Remember this work, effort, sacrifice and perseverance are all part of the journey that you are taking to achieve success in your qualifications. KEEP GOING. The end is in sight.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR AT LISNEAL

The talent of our pupils within Team Lisneal never ceases to amaze us. 8R had a Valentines themed assembly yesterday. The whole class took part in Lisneal’s own version of the dating game show ‘Take Me Out’ with former US president, Barack Obama, and current US president, Donald Trump, competing for the attention of the lovely ladies in the class. Despite the anti-Trump protestors in the crowd, Donald did manage to win a date…..with Miss Piggy. This was a wonderful effort from the whole class and a big thanks goes to Mrs Farrell for her expert Drama coaching. WE ARE LISNEAL

BIG SCHOOL – BIG HEART

On Friday we were delighted to hand over £1160 to local charities Children in Crossfire and Foyle Hospice. The funds were raised at our fantastic fashion show held last week. HUGE credit goes to Ms Garvin who masterminded and hosted the entire project. Well done Ms Garvin- top job!

U12 RUGBY

On Friday our under 12 rugby team continued their development with 2 short games against local opposition, St. Columb’s College and Oakgrove College. In only their 2nd run out competitively, our lads played very well in both games, winning the 1st against St. Columb’s and losing narrowly to Oakgrove in the 2nd. The team continue to make good progress and train every Tuesday after school. With another match against Oakgrove due after half term, and a High Schools’ under 12 competition at Coleraine RFC later in the month, there is a lot to work towards. Well done to all the players on this encouraging performance today and who knows, maybe one day we will be watching you play in the 6 Nations.

OUR BOXING CHAMP

Team Lisneal has its very own boxing star of the future. Well done to year 8 pupil Rhiannon who was crowned Girl 36KGs Champion at the County Londonderry championships. Well done Rhiannon. You have made Lisneal College and Newbuildings ABC very proud!

SHARED EDUCATION LLW

SHARED EDUCATION LLW – Lisneal, St Mary’s & St Cecilia’s.
Our Yr8 pupils are now attending collaborative Leaning for Life & Work lessons with one held during the week at St Mary’s College to celebrate cultural diversity within our city. The pupils enjoyed listening to the guest speakers and working together to explore the characteristics of what makes a good citizen in Londonderry. The teachers attending commented on how lovely it was to see our Yr8’s so comfortable with differences and diversity that exists within the education system itself! Their differences will never be a barrier to their learning. MAKING A DIFFERENCE.
