YEAR 10 HISTORY TRIP

This week our Year 10 pupils visited the Somme Centre to deepen their understanding of the First World War and learn of the human tragedy at the Battle of the Somme. Our pupils were incredibly respectful and Mrs Wilson and Mrs Bell were so proud of them. Well done Year 10.

YEAR 8 SHARED EDUCATION

Our Year 8 Shared Education group met for the first time today and we had a wonderful morning of team building and fun. The pupils from Lisneal, St. Mary’s and St. Cecilia’s got on like a house on fire and it was great to see the uniforms all mixed together.

ANTI-BULLYING AMBASSADORS

On Thursday, 5 of our Anti-bullying Ambassadors went to Lisnagelvin Primary School to provide training for 12 primary 5 and 6 pupils who want to be anti-bullying ambassadors. Kirsteen, Christopher, Jenny, Tiffany and Stuart planned and delivered a 1 hour session packed with important information and fun activities. Thanks to Miss Smith and the Lisnagelvin pupils for inviting us in and being such an enthusiastic audience. And well done to our amazing Lisneal pupils who would make great additions to any educational establishment.

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL

On Tuesday we handed over 126 shoeboxes to Mr Darryl Nesbitt of Operation Christmas Child. A huge thank-you to parents, pupils and staff who made an amazing contribution to our Shoebox appeal again this year. A special word of thanks goes to Josephine Gurney who wraps, sorts and packs all the boxes in time for collection. Team Lisneal IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

SCRIPTURE UNION TRIP

Scripture Union are just back from their action packed weekend to Ballycastle! It was an amazing weekend full of banter, very little sleep, LOTS of food, games and quizzes, a visit to the cinema, shopping in Ballymena, and messages from the Bible! We would like thank our special guests Alan and Dani for leading Worship and sessions entitled: Plug In, Charge Up, Function and GO Out!
Don’t forget see you all @ SU Wednesday 3.15-4.15pm

FOYLE HOSPICE CHRISTMAS SINGLE

A photo of our pupils taking part in the Foyle Hospice Christmas Single recording. We are really proud to have been asked to take part. As you can see, we are in very good company – singer and actress Bronagh Gallagher, Hollywood actress Roma Downey and TV presenter Sarah Travers are also supporting the Hospice fundraising campaign. As far as we’re concerned, the true stars are OUR PUPILS.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY SERVICE

This morning, our Head Boy and Head Girl laid a wreath on behalf of the school during the Remembrance Sunday service in the Diamond. Joshua and Emma-Jayne represented the school in impeccable fashion. The school was also represented by members of the Army Cadet Force Lisneal College detachment and Combined Cadet Force. Well done to everyone.

LIMAVADY ROTARY CLUB TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION

Today Mrs McCrudden took a group of year 10 pupils to St Mary’s Limavady to compete in the Limavady Rotary Club Technology competition. Our pupils did not win any prizes; however, Logan, Dylan and Jacob designed and made an excellent vehicle which was very different from the other designs produced on the day. The girls, Grace, Anna and Megan demonstrated impressive teamworking skills. The pupils had a great day and found it challenging, but enjoyable. A big thanks to Lorna for driving the mini bus.

LISNEAL COLLEGE REMEMBERS

Today we paid our respects at a remembrance service to honour the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom today. Our pupils remembered with incredible dignity and maturity, and our choir sang ‘Hallelujah’ with new lyrics written by Mrs Wilson. The lyrics tell of the sacrifice and bravery shown at the Somme. Emma Jayne Smethurst read ‘In Flanders Fields’ beautifully to a packed hall before we listened to the last post and perfectly observed a minute silence. Have a listen to our choir in the video clip.
