MID-TERM BREAK

Schools out for mid-term holidays!!! Yippeeee. Everyone at Lisneal would like to wish our pupils a happy and safe Halloween break. Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 8th November. See you all then.

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PARTICIPATION

Well done to the girls on achieving the sports development participation certificate at the Foyle Arena earlier in the week. Don’t the girls look fantastic in our beautiful uniform? It’s great to see such pride in being #TeamLisneal. Definitely the best school scarves in town!

HALLOWEEN IN THE LISNEAL LABS

This week the science dept decided to carry out some Halloween based lessons. Year 8 enjoyed learning about bats and fireworks. Year 9 enjoyed learning about skeletons, year 10 made some blood punch and in the senior school they enjoyed some smores. This proved a very successful way to bring science into the Halloween.

JUNIOR HALLOWEEN DISCO

A photo taken last night at our junior Halloween disco. Great costumes, wicked dance moves and great fun. Many thanks to the staff and PTFA for planning, organising and supporting the event

HALLOWEEN FUN

Today our Green Team got into the Halloween spirit and created their own spooky pumpkins. We have to admit that they are a fair bit better than the old turnips we used to carve. Well done to everyone and thanks to Mrs Mullan for all her energy and enthusiasm.

SHARED EDUCATION EXCELLENCE

Today our Vice Principal Mrs Wilson spoke to school leaders from over 40 schools about our work in Shared Education. Lisneal College is at the forefront of shared staff development in order to raise achievement for our young people. We are very proud of our partnership with St. Mary’s College and St Cecilia’s College and we will continue to work hard for the benefit of our community. #WEARELISNEAL

MATHEMATICS AT LISNEAL

This week Mathematics Guru Gordon Hamilton visited school to put some amazing puzzles to our maths students. It was fantastic to see our pupils develop their thinking skills and capabilities and get stuck into solving the mind pickling tasks. Many thanks to Elsa Edwards for bringing the opportunity to #TeamLisneal

PSC INTERIM REPORTS

Next week every pupil will receive their PSC Interim Report. These reports provide pupils, parents and teachers will the opportunity to celebrate success, set targets and monitor progress throughout the year. The Headmaster and Year Heads have had the pleasure of signing hundreds of superb reports- hopefully one is on its way to you! #P=Praise

SEAGATE REAL WORLD SCIENCE CONFERENCE

Today our Year 10 took part in the Seagate Real World Science Conference held in St. Mary’s College. This conference was a series of interactive workshops focused on a range of science topics from Robot Programming, CSI, fingerprinting to Building a Rocket, dissecting fish and many more. This was a thoroughly enjoyable day and the pupils were able to see science in action. Many thanks to our friends in St Mary’s College for hosting this event and to Mrs Loughery for taking our pupils and for the magnificent photos.

YR 13 BAKE SALE

Four of our fantastic Year 13 Business Studies pupils organised and successfully held a Bake Sale fundraiser in school at break time yesterday. They raised a grand total of £112.50 which will be donated to Foyle Hospice. The girls carried out their event as part of their Project Management unit, requiring them to independently plan, organise, run and report upon a project of their choice in groups of 4. The pupils and the Business Studies Department are very proud of the girls’ achievement and their decision to donate proceedings to a local charity. Praise must also be given to Doherty’s Home Bakery staff who very willingly offered the girls a fantastic discount on the buns, and the most competitive price in the town! Clearly, the event proved a real treat with pupils and staff alike! Many thanks to Miss Devine for being such a star!
