Staff Vs 6th Formers

Experience and Skill Triumphs Over Youth.
In what has been called the ‘game of the year’ by football pundits and fans across the globe, our staff footballing masters defeated our 6th Form novices in the inaugural ‘Bragging Rights Trophy’. After a hard fought match played in perfect conditions our staff team beat the young pretenders 5-4. The 6th Formers took an early lead against the run of play. Not to be outdone, the masters quickly equalised with a finely worked team goal. The game was nip and tuck with the lead changing hands on a couple of occasions. The 6th Formers looked like they would run away with it when they went 4-2 up against the staff. However, cockiness on the part of the young guns; determination, wizardry and a touch of Samba saw the staff team become eventual 5-4 winners. Two goals for both Mr Quigley and Mr Duddy and a peach of a strike for Mr Ferguson ensured the goals from Dylan Buchanan, Reece Kincaid and Jordan Killen just weren’t enough.

It is fair to say that the result was reflective of the match. The staff team hit the post on two occasions and also had a perfectly good goal ruled out for ‘not crossing the line’. We have requested a VAR ruling and will bring you the footage when we receive it.

In all seriousness, the match was played in a great sprirt and our pupils were absolutely fantastic. The bond between the staff and these boys is supwrb and we will continue to support them in everything they do. The boys and staff also raised £100 for our Relay for Life Charity Appeal. Great fun for a great cause! #WEARELISNEAL
