Pupil Voice

We have a well established School Council which gives pupils a much stronger voice than ever before- listening to them, considering their viewpoints, evaluating their feedback and exploring how they want to learn. Their ideas are put forward and discussed at Senior Leadership and delivered eg. The introduction of a ‘summershirt’, vending machines and seating around the school all began in our pupils’ forum. Pupils also have regular opportunities in all their subjects to give feedback about what they enjoyed in their lessons and we annually survey our pupils views on a wide range of aspects of pupil life from safety in school to enjoyment in lessons and use their views to shape the future of the school.

The school council have also worked together to raise money for a wide number of charities e.g Chest Heart and Stroke, The Alzheimer’s Society, The Rainbow Centre to name only a few. We regularly ask for feedback from our pupils through evaluations in subjects but also through our whole school survey once a year where we ask pupil’s a wide range of questions ranging from safety in school to how much they enjoy their lessons. We use their views to help us shape lessons and school life.

We also have a pupil Senior Leadership Team made up of pupils who have made a significant contribution to school life . They meet and discuss school issues and all have important positions of responsibility within the school. They liaise with the Principal and the teachers to ensure smooth running of the school and in making future proposals.
