Physical Education

Aim of Subject

The main aim of the PE department is that ALL children, without exception, learn to value physical activity, feel a need to participate and develop into a well-rounded and better individual as a result of participation.

In a safe, supportive and nurturing environment, the PE Department aims to provide an enjoyable, broad and balanced experience, with a programme of activities that allows all pupils to develop physically, socially and emotionally and at the same time increasing their personal levels of confidence, skill and understanding.

By offering as wide an experience as possible, during the 5 years, it is hoped that each pupil, will be encouraged to pursue a chosen activity outside the confines of the school, in an effort to adopt a physically active and healthy adult lifestyle.

Lessons in PE do not merely focus on the skills of the activities themselves, but also on important life skills and personal capabilities that can prepare our pupils for their future. These include self-management, problem solving and working with others.
