End of Term Arrangements – a letter from the Principal

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am writing to let you know that all online and remote learning will cease on Friday 19 June 2020. After discussions with a number of other post-primary principals across the Foyle Learning Community, I recognised that teachers and support staff will need time to prepare resources and plan for a possible return to school for Year 12 and 14 pupils on 17 August. To date I have not received any guidance from the Department of Education in relation to the number of pupils expected to attend school, whether PPE will be required and if transport will be available for our students. I have been informed (unofficially) that guidance on the ‘Restart’ of school will be sent to principals in the last week of June, so we will require time to scrutinise the guidance and carry out any actions required. You know that our school never stopped during the lock-down period and we will remain available for you should you need to discuss anything during the last week of normal term.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your support at this time and for your efforts in ensuring learning continued over the past number of months. It has been a challenging time for us all, but we have clearly shown that by working together we can overcome any obstacle.
Please have a safe summer and hopefully we can get back to a sense of normality soon.
If you need to speak to me or a member of staff do not hesitate to contact me on info@lisnealcollege.londonderry.ni.sch.uk.
Yours sincerely,
Mr M Allen
Principal
