Under 14 Bowl Winners

Yesterday, our Under 14 rugby team played in the finals of the HS Bowl at Rainey RFC and after winning 3 games with a bonus point in each, they came away as champions. A 26-0 victory over Dunclug College was followed up with a 22-0 victory over St Patrick’s Keady. A narrow defeat to a Tandragee HS could have cost our boys, however another bonus point victory over St Patrick’s Dungiven saw us top the table. The 12 tries scored today were shared between Alexander, Rhys B, Tyler, Lewis, Dean, Blake , Rhys T, Jack and Jamie with Dean converting several.

Well Connected Youth Programme

8S have now completed their 4 week Well Connected Youth Programme through the FACT project. They have learnt a lot over the past few weeks and will be sad to have to get used to going back to their regular class now!!
Thank you so much to family support workers, Gemma O’Reilly and Sinead O’Kane, for coming in to provide this excellent programme to our young people.

We would like to thank Pat for providing the training and well done to all our year 12 pupils for your active participation in the training. #TeamLisneal

Under 14 Rugby Blitz

The Under 14 rugby team where in action at a regional qualifiers blitz held at City Of Derry RFC. Victories against St Patrick’s Dungiven, Cullybackey College & St Eunan’s Letterkenny saw our boys progress to the finals day held later this month. 3 tries for Lewis, 2 for Rhys T, and further tries for George, Alexander, Rhys B and Eli saw us through after only conceding twice all afternoon. An extra shoutout to Dean who converted 5 conversion to help put Lisneal past the 50 pts mark!

Student Council Bake Sale

Well done to our Student Council on the success of their bake sales this week. Despite the chaos of the weather and the change of plan this week, they were able to raise a massive £600 for their chosen charity – Action Mental Health .

A big thank you to all of our staff, pupils and their friends and families for their charitable and baked good contributions. We would also like to show our appreciation to Eurospar Rossdowney, Doherty’s Bakery, McDaids Bakery/U-Bake and Ebrington Bakery for their delicious and generous donations.

Under 12 into the last 16 of Northern Ireland Plate

Lisneal college defeated Strabane Academy 2-0 on Thursday morning in the U12 Northern Ireland School Plate to secure a place in the last 16 round!
Lisneal dominated the game throughout both halves. Late into the second half the deadlock was broken whenever defender Ethan slipped the ball passed the keeper. Not long after, Lisneal secured the second to book their place in the next round after an excellent finish from Ollie!
A special mention to the man of the match Jake, who worked tirelessly throuhgout the game! Jake is pictured with his MOTM award!
Well done to all players

U16 into Quarterfinals of NI Cup

Our Under-16 football team progressed into the Quarterfinals of the NI Cup today after a hard fought 2-0 victory over Rathmore Grammar School. Lisneal started strongly and looked threatening. Gradually Rathmore settled into the game and started to assert a physical dominance which broke the rhythm of Lisneal’s football. At full-time the teams couldn’t be separated, meaning extra-time before a potential penalty shoot-out. With momentum swinging in our favour we grabbed the game scoring 2 quick goals to proceed with a 2-0 victory. Reece Schmid and Jack Curran got the goals but every player played a huge role, with some fine saves made by Aaron Buchanan at key moments.
The next round brings an away trip to Belfast where we play St. Malachy’s College.
