Transition Process

Moving to a larger school is a big move for any child. We at Lisneal will do everything to ensure that this is as smooth as possible. Your child will visit the school in June of their P7 school year to meet their Form Teacher and their Head of Year to get a first taste of life at Lisneal.

  • In June you will get a chance to speak with the Head of Pastoral Care and the Learning Support Co ordinator if you feel it appropriate to discuss your child and your child’s needs.
  • In July we run a Summer school for new pupils and our own Year 8’s, to build confidence and help them become more familiar with their new setting.
  • In August you and your child will come to school for the first day. Your child will meet their form teacher again and you will get a chance to meet your child Head of Year and Form Teacher in a relaxed informal way. It is vital to us that we have good relationships with you as parents from the start of your child’s experience in Lisneal, as a good relationship between home and school is the key to ensuring your child will achieve their full potential.

We also worked closely with your child’s primary school to get a detailed profile of their ability and strengths so that we can make the move as seamless as possible.
