EVE BAKES MORE GOODIES FOR MR ALLEN

YUM YUM said Mr Allen and Mrs Smith when our ‘STAR BAKER’ Eve arrived into school this morning with Fifteens and Rocky Road tray bakes. She is making a habit out of spoiling them both, isn’t she! Well done to Eve on her continued kindess shown to others – an admirable quality. What a fantastic young lady she is! #LIKENOOTHER

TEAM LISNEAL STUDENT COUNCIL

What a great photo taken yesterday morning of our #TeamLisneal Student Council. This wonderful group of pupils will represent their peers across all year groups in Lisneal College and will ultimately be our PUPIL VOICE for 2017/18. Together they will work to drive change forward and contribute to important decisions that are made to allow our school to continue to improve for the benefit of all.

CONGRATULATIONS LAUREN!

What a shining star our Lauren is! She is pictured this morning proudly displaying her handful of medals to Mr Allen that she was awarded at a recent Shooting Stars Gymnastics competition. Lauren must have made some impression with her performances on the floor, pole and beam to achieve 4 golds along with her silver medal for excellence on the vault. Well done to Lauren – everyone at #TeamLisneal is delighted at your success.

U12 FOOTBALL SUCCESS

This week our U12 football team defeated local rivals Lumen Christi College 4-2 in the 2nd round of the Northern Ireland Cup. A big shout out goes to year 8 pupil Harry who was named star performer of the match and also captained the team to their glory. Harry played exceptionally well, scoring a hat-trick which included a thunderous 30 yard screamer. Well done to all players on this fantastic performance. We are delighted that you have progressed to the 3rd round of the N.I Cup and know that you have what it takes to GO ALL THE WAY. #TeamLisneal

ENTREPRENEUR’S TALK

On Friday our year 11 Business Studies students were delighted to visit St. Cecilia’s College to attend an entrepreneurship talk delivered by ‘Pete Boyle’, the founding owner and CEO of highly successful jewellery retailer, ‘ARGENTO’. Our students have recently learnt about the characteristics that entrepreneurs have and the risks and rewards that are typically involved with entrepreneurship. They were really interested to hear Pete’s business background which proved to be a truly inspirational story for young people who have intentions of starting up their own business in the future. Many thanks to Vivienne Mc Kerr from School Employer Connections for her kind invitation and also to the staff and pupils from St. Cecilia’s College for their warm welcome this afternoon.

SENIOR PREFECT & LEADERSHIP SKILLS TRAINING

During the week a large number of our 6th form students participated in SHARED ‘SENIOR PREFECT & LEADERSHIP SKILLS’ TRAINING alongside students from St. Cecilia’s College. This training day was the first collaborative step towards their achievement of an OCR Level 2 qualification in pupil leadership. We want to thank Miss Bradley for all the encouragement and support that she has given our team of senior prefects and for organising this training programme. To the students themselves – we want to thank each of you for your commitment and hard work to date as Senior Prefects in #TeamLisneal.

BUSINESS STUDIES STUDENTS INTERVIEW MR ALLEN

Today Mr Allen spent some time in the Business Studies department working to support our yr13 Btec Business students in preparation for an assignment that they are due to begin. Mr Allen spoke to the students at length about his role as a manager of a public sector business, describing in detail the physical, human and technological resources that he is employed to use effectively on behalf of the Department of Education. The students were very interested to learn more about the running of Lisneal College as a public sector business and are very grateful to Mr Allen for the help and support that he provided in the research stages of their assignment. #TeamLisneal MAKING A DIFFERENCE

EXCEPTIONAL ENGLISH HOMEWORK

HOMEWORK SO GOOD THAT IT HAD TO BE FRAMED! These budding young creative writers have promised Mrs Thompson that when they become top selling authors they will remember her and contribute to her dwindling pension! You heard it here first! Well done to Ben, Jodie and Kaleb on their A* standard homework. Keep up the great effort.
