STEM LEARNING UK ENTHUSE AWARDS

Many congratulations goes to our Science Department on representing Northern Ireland at the STEM LEARNING UK Enthuse awards held in the Houses of Parliament in London. The awards recognise commitment to developing STEM subjects and inspiring young people through excellence in learning and teaching. Head of Science, Mr Louden and Mr Allen attended the awards, and it was a very proud moment to hear ‘Lisneal College’ announced as the NI secondary schools’ representatives. Unfortunately we did not win the UK award, but we are very proud of our Science Department teachers and technician.

FOYLE HOSPICE COPPER HUNT

We recently welcomed Donall Henderson, Foyle Hospice Chief Executive, into Lisneal College. Our Health & Social Care pupils collectively raised money for Foyle Hospice by participating in the Copper Hunt which involved them taking coin boxes home and saving loose change throughout the year. Amy and Hollie were delighted to present Donall with their filled boxes and were keen to acknowledge the great fundraising effort of Yr12 pupil, Shantell Temple, who worked so hard to fill many boxes. Miss Bradley would like to personally thank Shantell for her wonderful effort and contribution made to the Copper Hunt throughout the year. #TeamLisneal COMMUNITY SCHOOL

PROUD AS PUNCH

Yr11 Pupil, Jodie-Lee, had her beautiful long hair cut on Thursday morning by her Grandmother, Valerie, and her closest school friends. Jodie-Lee is kindly donating 12 inches of her hair to ‘The Little Princess Trust’ who will use it to make and provide real hair wigs to children that have sadly lost their own hair as a result of Cancer treatment. There are no words to describe how proud we all are of Jodie-Lee, she is a fantastic ambassador for #TeamLisneal

GEOGRAPHY RIVER STUDY

Year 11 Geography pupils are photographed during their ‘Field Work Study’ to Magilligan, where they completed an ‘Investigation into River Features along the Curly Burn’ as part of their GCSE Controlled Assessment Task. Mrs Gibbons was delighted with her pupils’ wonderful attitudes to their work during this trip and said that they were a credit to #TeamLisneal
